THE START OF A NEW CYCLE, AND THE WISH FOR CHANGE.

Updated: Feb 25

We have just entered the year 2025, and, as with every New Year, many feel the urge or wish for a change, or something better in their lives, and they make resolutions to that effect. Generally most resolutions have to do with physical pursuits, (e.g., to start exercising, begin a new diet, lose weight, stop drinking alcohol or smoking cigarettes, more money, good health, more love or healthier relationship, etc.) as opposed to a more deep seated desire to improve one’s inner being.

Recent surveys indicate that about 88% of people forsake their New Year’s resolutions within the first 2 weeks of January, which may suggest that many give little thought before making their resolution. Rather, it would suggest that they do this as just one of the rites of the season. However, the fact that making New Year resolutions is a regularly occurring phenomenon should give us pause to think, and to take it more seriously, and not dismiss it as “just one of those things”. Anyone who has taken the time to nurture a sincere New Year resolution knows that it is preceded by deep self-examination and soul searching.

So, what is it about the beginning of a New Year (new cycle) that brings about this common reaction in people? Incidentally, this phenomenon is not limited to the cycles of the Western calendar. The same is present among groups governed by other calendar cycles; like the Chinese, the Muslims, the Jews, and even the animists who believe in the Elemental Beings associated with nature. With the last named group, the wish for change is often associated with self and community cleansing rites, which they feel is necessary before the new can be ushered in.

This desire for change at the start of a new cycle might suggest that perhaps this must lie deep within the Human Psyche (or Spirit). Indeed, the "automatic" trigger could be described as embedded in our Spirit (Psyche), as part of our Spiritual DNA.

So, the first logical question in addressing this supposition would have to be: “Is there an equivalent repository of Spiritual evolutionary information, embedded somewhere deep within our Spirit (Psyche), and which has its own automatic and independent Spiritual expression, similar to how Genetic DNA automatically expresses itself in the human bodies or in plants, animals?

To answer this question, we need to understand how this "Spiritual DNA" expresses itself in humans.

From time immemorial humans have sought the higher meaning or purpose of life. This innate search distinguishes humans from all other creatures on Earth. It is something that is not learned. It manifests automatically when a person attains to a certain level maturity. Thus, this innate desire to seek is similar to genetic DNA that automatically triggers biological actions.

Another behavior which appears common only to humans, is the innate desire to strive after ennoblement, or the higher-self, which some will describe as "striving after virtues". This can be likened the shoots of a seed which upon germinating in the soil are genetically programmed to penetrate the soil reaching for the sun’s light, in order to grow and mature as a plant.

Could virtues or self-ennoblement be another Spiritual DNA that humans possess, waiting to be awakened and developed at the appropriate level of maturity?

Some will say that many no longer feel this urge to search for a higher purpose or meaning to life. And that there are many who no longer aspire to cultivate virtues.

While both observations are correct, they do not negate the fact that most humans still entertain the urge to seek or for self ennoblement.

But, to answer the question, one would have to understand how it is that, unlike other creatures on earth, the human appears to be able to act against the encoded promptings of its DNA..

Already we know that humans can consciously imbibe things against the promptings of their genetic DNA. Over time, through ignoring the promptings of its DNA, the body soon becomes “deaf” to these promptings. Research in genetics and human behavior (1) is now suggesting that through such sustained and continued behavior, humans could actually bring about changes in their body’s genetic configuration, thus adapting them to our imposed human desires. In other words, a strong and sustained desire/Will can gradually alter the genetic expression of the human body.

This adaptation is different from the genetic adaptation brought about by changes in Nature, and which bring about the natural physical evolutionary processes of bodies.

Now, to explain how it is that humans can accomplish this fit.

According to the natural Law of Species, like can only interact and affect like. Therefore it means that human Will must operate at the same vibrational frequency as that of the activity of genetic DNA. Through this mutual affinity sustained human desire/behavior can ultimately interfere with the vibrational activity of DNA, thus causing changes there frequencies (or mutations) that eventually appear in the physical.

This also explains why the human will can muffle or silence innate Spiritual traits like the urge to search for meaning and purpose of life, or to cultivate self-ennoblement, both of which are embedded in our psyche (.i.e., waiting to manifest) Thus it is that many today no longer “feel the urge”; because their desires have been sustained in a different direction, and their Spiritual DNA has been stifled, or “modified” to adapt to the desire/Will of the individual!

Hopefully, the foregoing has presented a credible case for describing the the inner stirrings at the beginning of a new cycle as the manifestations of our Spiritual DNA.

In the parable of The Talents, The LORD Jesus Christ alluded to the gifts with which man is endowed. Those who recall the parable will remember that Christ made it clear that the endowed talents (gifts) are meant to be cultivated, to yield more fruit.

Thus, in the parable, the one who buried his talent and returned it as given was condemned, just as the one who wasted and lost his talents.

Another aspect of the parable that many may not have given give due consideration is that it addresses time or duration. It clearly indicates the servants were given an adequate time interval in which to cultivate their talents, and to grow them before the set time for harvest arrives.

In the book “In The Light of Truth” (The Grail Message), Abdrushin confirms the Law of Returns (or Harvest) as indicated in the parable .i.e., the harvesting being the fruits from the bestowed talents.

Abdrushin explains further that this harvesting in brought about by the Law that "everything that starts out on the path of development must eventually return to its source of origin". But he also explains that the state in which a Spirit, for example, returns to its source of origin depends on the choices he or she has made in developing his or her endowed talents. The one who has developed his endowed virtues can hope to return as a mature and spiritually-conscious entity (2), to enjoy the blessings of Life, even while still here on Earth. The one who has used his or her gift of freewill to distort and make vices out of the endowed virtues will be held back and forced to undergo disintegration (3), when this part of creation goes through that point in its natural path of development .

All of this activity manifests in the cycles that are driven by an eternal Law of Unceasing Movement. Thus, all activities in creation are governed and compelled to activity towards established goals. Man’s free will can direct the shape of the activity that he or she chooses to engage in, but can never stop the development or the end point to which their free Will leads.

Like the well-known biological clock that triggers different emotions within the human during exact periods in the cycle of our lives, is it inconceivable to consider that the beginning of a New Year cycle triggers deep unconscious longing or sensing within us?

If the cause of this longing is understood perhaps it will help redirect the target of many a New Year Resolution, as well as the sincerity, effort, and tenacity towards our resolutions? Surely this can only help us to more easily align the desires of the Spirit and the flesh.

The sincere prayer accompanying this blog is that the target of all our readers’ wishes, desires and resolutions for this New Year will be towards their own individual Spiritual awakening, and the deep awareness that the Law of Unceasing Movement is steadily taking us towards the point of harvest, whether or not we are aware of this fact.

Amen.
